Before I go off to research land for this, any of you folks with kids ever experience sleep problems with your kids when they were 8 or so? And if you did, what did you do?

Portia had some sleep issues at that age that were related to "silent" asthma. She woke up because she was having trouble breathing, but had no sensation of tight chest etc. Once she was treated for that it helped. So I'd say don't overlook the possibility that he has a physical problem causing this.

Two of ours had some night terrors and they were the most horrible things to watch. All we could do was hold them and try to wake them up but it was really hard.

Other than a few of those nothing much.

Thanks you guys.
POEATS: You lucky calf momma so and so!!
Spooky: I got a tip from a mom today to give him Benadryl before bed. Tried it tonight.
QG: Thanks. I got a referral to a neurologist today.
RC: Mine had night terrors for a teeny bit of time when he was 3. They're definitely hideous.

Today his pediatrician asked "what's the problem?". I said "I'm not sleeping." Had to have some humor in there somewhere.
