ARLINGTON AT CHRISTMAS

About 5,000 wreaths are donated by the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine. The owner, Merril Worcester, also pays for the trucking expense. He's done this since 1992. Groups of Maine school children visit this event to help out, along with their regular school trip to DC. Harrington, by the way, is one of the poorest parts of the state.

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers and sisters.

(hat tip to Auntie A and Marshall)

This is such a beautiful example of Christmas giving. Thanks for sharing. BTW ... my card is addressed and will be mailed today!

PG, I hate to tell you this, but that is an email hoax. Walter Reed cannot accept cards that are not addressed to a particular soldier. Check it out at Snopes.com.
The Snopes entry includes a statement from the hospital with suggestions about other ways to show you care.

Thank you Songbird. What nastiness that is.

PG, thanks for putting these pictures up. I've seen Arlington Cemetary various times in the summer, but never imagined it in winter. I'm glad the man in Maine donates those wreaths. Beautiful in a bittersweet way.
